From visiting wind turbines to roasting eggs

On 9 October, class 4a from Ruprechtshofen Primary School went on a trip to Kilb. The excursion focussed on the topic of ‘renewable energy’ and was accompanied by Hans Janker.

In the beginning, the pupils were given an insight into the construction and operation of wind turbines before they had the opportunity to experience a wind turbine up close.

Children fascinated by the wind turbine

‘We went to the Kilb wind turbine and saw how it was built and how they delivered the components.’

‘It’s very exciting how fast it brakes.’

We split into groups and all went up to the first floor of the wind turbine.’

‘The further up it goes, the narrower it gets in the tower.’

Tinkering session and egg dish

The tour then led to the ground-mounted PV system, under which chickens live. The children then learnt about a biomass heating system that is powered by miscanthus grass.
To round off the eventful morning, the children made small wind turbines and prepared a delicious egg dish together over an open fire.
